One of the most intuitive, but often neglected, interventions for children who are struggling with behaviors at home is what we call the “ten minute rule.” It is simply this — spend ten minutes individually with that child each day, doing or talking about whatever the child wants to do or talk about. Such a simple intervention, we have seen so much good come of implementing this rule in homes. Many child behavior issues begin to dissipate almost immediately after parents begin to spend just ten minutes each day with their children, one on one. Try it and see what a difference it can make.
